(MedleyStory) After six years of planning a town square for the community of Brookville, organizers said ground will be broken soon. Jack Demotte, the chairperson for the town square project told 6 News that their capital campaign has been a success. To date, Demotte said that they have raised $470,000. Initially, there were plans to apply for grants but it was decided that the group would raise money all through the communities support. "This is a tremendous step forward for our community. It will give a central place for us to have festivals, a gathering place for the community. I think it will be a real enhancement for our downtown," said Demotte. Demotte said that they expect to break ground on the project sometime late spring. He is hopeful that the project can be complete by the end of the year. The town square will be located right next to the Jefferson County courthouse along Main St. in Brookville. Demotte said that they are still seeking donations for the project. Anyone interested in donating can call 849-0518. Click here to read the full story at MedleyStory
