(MedleyStory) There has always been a rivalry between the New Brighton and Beaver Falls basketball teams, but when they faced each other Friday afternoon, no one was able to watch it. Students from the two schools got into a big fight a few days ago, and in an attempt to prevent any further incidents, the schools decided it would be in the best interest to not allow fans at the game. “I don’t understand why they stopped the parents from coming,” Bill Broomfield said. “It was the kids. Why ban the parents when it was the kids fighting?” The only people allowed to attend the game, which was moved a few hours earlier from its original starting time, were the teams, coaches and administrators. Police accused Alawne Jefferson, a member of the Beaver Falls team, of using a knife during Monday night’s fight. Jefferson was freed on $10,000 bond. Six players on the Beaver Falls team are currently serving a two-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, school officials said. Click here to read the full story at MedleyStory |
